Canyon Lakes Guide Service offers guided fishing trips on Elwood Reservoir and surrounding waters in southwest and south central Nebraska. Whether you're an experienced angler looking to learn a new lake or just want to take the kids out for day of fun catching fish, I can hook you up!
Elwood Reservoir is known to some as one of the hardest waterbodies in the state to fish. At 80+ feet deep at full pool, endless sharp drop-offs, and dozens of submerged tree covered points, there is no one place for all the fish to be. With fish being harder to find in Elwood than most other reservoirs and lakes in the area, they get BIG!
Known as white bass/striped bass hybrids, wiper are Elwood's fighting machines. You can find them in small groups up in the shallows or in schools of hundreds, roaming the open water year-round. They can be incredibly easy to catch if you know where to find them. Their size and appetite make catching wipers a thrill for people of all ages!
Although you can find walleye in just about every larger body of water in central and western Nebraska, Elwood walleye are tanks due to the protein rich alewife they feast on. We'll fish shallow in the spring to deeper in the summer. Let your guide show you where they are. There are definitely quality fish to be caught.
Fish from a ranger boat with lowrance electronics and multiple Garmin Livescopes on board. Use fishing's latest technology to hunt down, cast directly on top of single fish, watch them react to, and eat your bait. There's no more wondering what's down there!
Opportunities to catch many other species of fish exist including muskie, pike, white bass, sauger, yellow perch, bluegill, largemouth, spotted, and smallmouth bass. Black, white, and hybrid triploid crappie all swim in Elwood, along with blue, channel, and even a few flathead catfish.
Let your guide, Trevor Nation, put you on the fish. Growing up in the area, Trevor has 20+ years of experience fishing Elwood Reservoir and surrounding waters through all seasons.
All gear is provided including fishing poles, tackle, and bait. Life jackets will also be on hand including youth size. If you would like to use any of these items of your own, feel free to bring them along.
Anyone fishing should bring a current Nebraska fishing license. If you need help purchasing one beforehand, ask your guide for assistance.
You should bring a small to medium sized cooler with enough food and drinks to get you through the day.
Other optional items might include a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen lotion

I'm not happy unless you're happy! There are days when fish just won't bite. If your trip lands on one of those days, the weather is so bad, or the wind is making it nearly impossible to fish, I will give you a considerable discount, a full refund, or reschedule if you wish.
I believe in keeping the quality of Elwood's fishery a top priority. Catch and release is highly recommended. Wipers cannot reproduce and the natural reproduction of walleye is very low if not nonexistent in this area. But catch and release is not about that, it's about letting them go and letting them grow so in future, people will still have the opportunity to catch big fish, REALLY BIG FISH. With that said, all walleye, wiper, or muskie over 25 inches must be released. Thanks for your understanding and helping keep Elwood's reputation for big fish live and well!

A very common occurrence with wipers at Canyon Lakes Guide Service throughout the entire summer and even under the ice. If your kids like videos games and fast pace fishing, they'll love this!
With all the baitfish in Elwood, the fish don't have to work to get food. Which is where the livescope comes in to put your bait on their nose. This muskie took an easy meal.
Did i mention wipers?
